Mindfulness is a meaningful way to reduce suffering and increase our physical and mental well-being. The clear awareness of our inner and outer experience that is cultivated through mindful attention, nurtures a wise, caring and non-reactive response to life.
Mindfulness is particularly helpful in dealing with all forms of stress, and in enhancing our quality of life.
Through insight meditation – sitting, standing, walking, and in mouvement, with simple hatha yoga exercises -, as well as exercises and some group discussion, this retreat will offer a wide spectrum of formal and informal mindfulness practice.
WHO IS THIS RETREAT FOR?
If you have never meditated or know little about mindfulness or meditation, this is an opportunity to learn and build foundations for mindfulness practice in your daily life.
If you already have some knowledge and/or practice, you will be able to take it to another level and strengthen your practice.
If you have a regular meditation practice and knowledge of the founding principles of mindfulness meditation, enjoy six days of tranquillity in this beautiful setting with several hours a day of formal mindfulness practice, while enjoying a wonderful holiday in rural Greece.
The traditional, unspoilt village of Lafkos on the Pelion peninsula offers a beautiful setting for an authentic experience.
Comfortable accommodation is available for single, double, or triple occupancy so you can bring your friends, or make new ones while you are there!
On-site facilities include a swimming pool and tennis court. Afternoon/evening trips to different beaches and coastal villages will be offered.
Your days will start with a morning meditation led by Liz Carey Libbrecht. Liz is an energy psychology therapist and mindfulness teacher, qualified to teach the 8-week MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) programmed (trained by the Centre for Mindfulness, Massachusetts Medical School, USA). She is presently a student of Marc Coleman (Spirit Rock teacher) and Martin Aylward at the Mindfulness Training Institute. She has been doing yoga since the 1980s and meditating since the late ‘90s.
After a healthy breakfast and morning swim, the half-day workshop will include teaching, exercises, meditations, and a short period of group discussion and questions. Most of the time will be devoted to formal meditation practice, which will include sitting meditation (on a chair or on a cushion or small bench on the floor: the choice is yours), walking meditation, standing meditation, and meditation with movement (very simple hatha yoga exercises).
By the end of the workshop, you will come away with some theoretical and experiential understanding of Mindfulness and be ready to integrate it into your daily life.

Airfare, local transport between the airport and Lafkos, drinks bought at the hotel and other personal expenditures, as well as evening meals are not included in the price (with the exception of the welcome dinner the first evening).
The retreat ends after the closing session on Saturday morning.

Lafkos in located on the southern end of the Pelion peninsula approximately 3 1/2 hours from Thessonoliki and about 4 1/2 hours from Athens. Two shuttles will be leaving from each airport, one in the late morning and one in the early afternoon, for an additional cost of 60 euros per person, each way.
There are also inter-city busses you can take from either airport to Volos, with a second bus or taxi available to bring you into Lafkos. Click here for more information on bus routes from either airport. Contact us for arranging taxis.

DEPOSIT AND CANCELLATION POLICY
To secure your place for either date in 2018, a deposit of €150 or full payment is required.
Full payment must be made by 18 June for the August retreat, and by 1 July for the September retreat.
Cancellations can be made up to 90 days prior to your retreat and you will receive a full refund (minus a €20 administration fee) or you may transfer funds to another retreat date or participant.
Cancellations made from 61-90 days prior will receive a 70% refund or you may transfer to another participant to attend the mindfulness retreat in your place, or attend another event in the future.
Cancellations made from 0-60 days prior will NOT be issued a refund, but can still transfer to another guest to attend the Mindfulness Retreat in your place.
